Murphy Animal Hospital

I was disappointed with my experience at Murphy Animal Hospital's Rehabilitation Clinic. I brought my 12.5-year-old dog in because she has been experiencing lameness in one of her front legs, and I was hoping to find a long-term rehabilitation plan to improve her quality of life. Before my appointment, Phyllis asked me to have all of my veterinary and chiropractic records transferred to the clinic, which I promptly did. At no point during the scheduling process was I informed that X-rays would be required before rehabilitation could begin. I was surprised during my visit to learn that X-rays were being recommended at an additional cost of approximately $550. Had I known this beforehand, I would have appreciated the opportunity to prepare for that expense or ask questions in advance. What was most disappointing was the conclusion of the consultation. I paid $160 for a 90-minute consultation with Dr. Flegle, yet she did not personally review her assessment or treatment recommendations with me. Instead, the technician delivered the findings. When I asked questions about the purpose of the X-rays and what they were specifically looking for, the technician was unable to answer them and had to leave the room to get Dr. Flegle. When Dr. Flegle returned, I felt as though my questions were an inconvenience rather than an opportunity to educate a client. As someone making an important medical decision for my dog, I expected to have a thoughtful discussion with the veterinarian who performed the evaluation. The interaction became even more disappointing when Dr. Flegle suggested that I should "go home and review it with my husband" before making a decision. I was genuinely perplexed by that comment. I'm not sure what my husband has to do with me making a medical decision about my dog's health. Whether that was her intent or not, the remark felt dismissive and inappropriate, as though I wasn't capable of making an informed decision on my own. It left me feeling disrespected. I also have to say that I now understand why several other reviewers mentioned concerns about the professionalism, tone, and demeanor of the staff. I was only in the clinic for 90 minutes, yet I experienced that same attitude—from the front desk through my interaction with the veterinarian. Unfortunately, it made the entire visit feel unwelcoming. At that point, I chose to leave without moving forward with treatment and will not be returning. I don't mind paying for quality veterinary care, and I understand that diagnostics are often necessary. However, when charging a premium consultation fee, I expect transparency about high costs before the appointment, for the veterinarian to personally review the assessment and recommendations, answer my questions directly, and treat me with professionalism and respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

I really wish they would have followed what we discussed on the phone for her first visit. Now her shot schedule is messed up and want to give more shots which cost more money and shouldn't of been necessary. She was only there the first time at 9 weeks to get checked out and have her stool tested as where we got her from dewormed her more than every 2 weeks. I had a scheduled appt about 10 days later making her 10 weeks old which they cancelled to get the shots she needed and stay on the schedule. Well they gave her the DA2PPv shot which she just had 2 weeks prior at 7 weeks. Not what was discussed on phone. I sent my husband so he didnt know what I had discussed with them. Went for her 3rd round of DA2PPv at 12 almost 13 weeks and now want to give her a 4th one since apparently the 3rd one was too early and not close enough to 16 weeks. Wouldn't have been if they would have listened to me and went with what was said over the phone. She did have shots from a previous vet and the vet we had seems to not know that which was given to them as they asked before she was seen the first time. Obviously doesn't check charts before seeing her as I ask a question and they talked about possibly worms. You tested her poop 3.5 weeks ago and said she had none and I gave more poop for testing day of appointment. Found out the vet I had just graduated this year. Im not sure if I will be back. This last appointment really making me think.
